We had a great outreach day last Thursday at Jolley Elementary. Be sure to upload the ion about your experience in D2L.This week we will be working on our IdeaFest posters and the outlines and abstracts for our technical papers. We will work in class on these.

ReplyDeleteI was really happy with our group this week because we got our poster done quickly and it turned out really very nice. I am really glad that our group work went as smoothly as it has. I think we will be well prepared for IDEA fest and am looking forward to it. Happy Easter all!
ReplyDeleteTUESDAY LAST WEEK- I thought the global warming debate was very interesting. There were many good points to each side. I am a little on the fence in my own opinion about global warming- I do think information is skewed at times by the media, but I also think that there is plenty of evidence out there backing up the fact that humans are causing global warming. This was the debate I was looking forward to the most, as this topic interests me very much.
ReplyDeleteTHURSDAY LAST WEEK- OUTREACH PRESENTATIONS- I had a lot of fun at the outreach presentations. It was very interesting to see different levels of understanding between the kids. It was also interesting to see the ideas that different kids came up with; I was in awe with some of their ideas and that they could think of something like that at such a young age. I don't know if I was that smart at that age! I certainly wasn't as bratty as one girl in the groups was- my goodness! I don't know how her parents talk to her or where she learns that from- I can only hope for the best for that child! I think that the kids understood the point that we were trying to make- which was the whole point of our presentation, obviously! They had fun- which was the most important part of it. What kid would want to learn about island colonization without having a little fun!
Tuesday- work day for our posters. Didn't get much done!
Thursday- work day for our posters. Got the whole thing done! I was surprised how nice it looked for throwing it together in such a short amount of time. I will only be able to be at IdEAfest for about 15 minutes, if that, but I will be really excited to see our poster! I hope that we included everything that we wanted to say about our topic- island conservation- and I hope that the research we did for it pays off! Between the outreach presentation, and the IdEAfest presenation, I'm sure that the research done will be well worth it! I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter- and ignores that one family member that you just don't like! I know I will be! :)
My group was able to pull the poster together and my opinion was it looked great! Thank you to everyone that did their part, it works a lot better when the group acts as a group.

Overall, my group worked really well to get the poster done this week.I am very happy with the final result, and it is good to be ready for IdEAFest. It will also be interesting to see what everyone else has preapred.
ReplyDeleteAs well, Thursday, my group began breaking apart our topic in order to come up with subjects for each of us to do our research paper on. We all seem to have a pretty good idea of where we want to go with it.
This week went quick as we were worked on our posters for the IdeaFest. I feel like we got a lot done and are almost fully prepared for the presentations next week. I'm looking forward to seeing how IdeaFest will go and just to get it done.
ReplyDeleteOur group worked on our posters this week and we got a lot done on Tuesday. I think that the ideafest will go well. Our group should do very well and I think that we are well informed on our topic. It should be an interesting experience.
ReplyDeleteThis past week, our group got a lot accomplished for IDEAfest. On Tuesday, we focused on choosing a template and getting our poster set up. We did the introduction, found maps and pictures, and decided what needed to be done by the following class period. On Thursday, we finished putting our poster together. I think our end product will be really good. I am happy with the way our group worked together and completed the project.

Our group was able to build our IdEAFest poster quickly. The poster focused on our outreach project and incorporated background information. To further develop the poster, we discussed how humans compete for food and how we have an impact on other species resources. I was very pleased to accomplish this task quickly and look forward to IdEAfest
ReplyDeleteThe IDEA Fest project has crept up on us very quickly, but I am looking forward to presenting what we have come up with. On Thursday my group finished our poster and we're happy with how it turned out. It will be interesting to see everyone elses' posters too on Thursday :)
ReplyDeleteAs most people seem to agree on, this week of working on our IDEA Fest posters definitely flew by. I think our group put together a pretty good poster as I'm sure the other groups did as well. I look forward to seeing them all at the poster session in the MUC!
ReplyDeleteThis week we worked primarily on our poster for IdeaFest. I had a chance do some editing on the results and conclusion portion of the poster. All together I feel like our poster will be visually pleasing and informative.
ReplyDeleteThis week we worked and prepared for IDEAFest. Our group worked on the poster presentation. The poster looks excellence and I hope that IDEAFest will get an understanding of the importance of our groups topic and get a better understanding of our groups research. I believe that our groups poster is very informative.
ReplyDeleteWe worked on our IDEAFest posters this week. Our group put together a pretty cool poster I can't lie. It also had some great information too! I really look forward to seeing everyone's posters that they've put together. I think everyone has put a lot of research and time into these so it'll be great to hear them speak about it too.
ReplyDeleteOur group worked well together and was able to complete our poster fairly quickly. Everyone did their part and I couldn't be more pleased with the teamwork. Overall I think our poster is going to be very appealing to the audience and will go over well.
ReplyDeleteGreat job group, thats all has to be said. Our poster seemed to come together fast and with the correct information. We used a template and didn't get everything in stone tuesday but gave jobs to each member to bring together on thursday to put it all together. Making it look really good and flow really well. Good job group, even though we all can't be in class all the time our group works well outside of class time to get the job done
ReplyDeleteWorking on our IDEAfest poster was kind of a fun thing to do. It gave us an opportunity to be creative with our projects and really make it our own. Our poster turned out really well and looked great. Our group worked together well and it showed in the final product.
